Founded in 2021 by Sagar Kudtarkar, Design Unbound is a studio focused on context-driven, eco-friendly architecture using local and natural materials like CSEB, lime, brick, and stone.
The approach supports local labour and creates durable, low- maintenance homes that naturally return to the earth. Every project is designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing comfort and functionality.
Our methods incorporate building construction techniques like stone masonry, earth wall construction (cob, Wattle and daub, adobe). stabilised earth construction (rammed earth, CSEB), mud and lime plasters by using local and natural additives (jaggery, hirda, turmeric. methi, bael, flaxseed etc). Using local materials helps reduce transport costs, promotes local labour, thus minimizing the construction cost and environmental impact.
Climate-responsive design rooted in local materials and craftsmanship.
Spaces that blend sustainability, wellbeing, and vernacular wisdom.
Lime plasters and breathable walls reduce toxins and regulate humidity.
Create spaces that are cooler in summers, warmer in winters through smart design. Better air quality with calm, warm, and nature-connected spaces.
